Always reliable, consistent service

This is my third time using Cheaphoster, and they're consistently good for the price. I've got a couple of small niche sites on their $1 Web Hosting plan, and they just work. This last order was for a new PHP Hosting package, and it was activated fast, just like previous times. Uptime has been solid for my other sites, so I expect the same here. It's not fancy, but it's reliable for basic needs, which is why I keep coming back.

Decent for the price point

I purchased the Shared WordPress Hosting plan with annual billing. The ordering process was smooth, and my account was active within 15 minutes. I used the Softaculous Auto Installer for WordPress, which worked without a hitch. The free SSL certificate was applied automatically after about an hour. Performance seems adequate for a basic blog, though I haven't tested it under heavy load. FTP access was quick to set up, and I appreciated having multiple MySQL Databases available. Customer support responded to a billing question within 30 minutes, which was good. For what you pay, it provides a functional hosting environment.

So easy to get started!

I just needed a simple site for my hobby, and the $1 Web Hosting was perfect. Getting everything set up, including a Professional Email Account, was super easy. I was worried it would be complicated, but it wasn't. The cPanel is intuitive. I definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to get online without spending a lot of money. I'm so happy with it!

Good value, minor setup issues

I signed up for the Shared WordPress Hosting plan, mainly because the price was hard to beat. The activation was pretty quick, and setting up WordPress via Softaculous was straightforward. I had a small hiccup getting the free SSL certificate to show up immediately, it took a few hours to propagate properly, which was a bit annoying. Support was responsive when I inquired about it, though. For the cost, it's a solid option for a small personal site, but don't expect enterprise-level perfection.

Got my site online, no fuss

I just needed a place to put my personal portfolio, nothing fancy. Picked up their Shared WordPress Hosting. It was pretty cheap, and getting WordPress installed was straightforward. Didn't have any major issues or anything. The support folks helped me with a small question about subdomains. It's doing what I needed it to do, which is cool.

Thinking of finally getting a proper professional email for my freelance work. Cheaphoster offers 'Professional Email Accounts'. Has anyone actually used these? Are they reliable for sending/receiving client emails or should I just stick with Gmail and a custom domain setup?

T techfreak 6 days ago ✓ Best Answer
It's basically standard cPanel email, which is fine for most small businesses. You get access to Roundcube or Horde webmail. If you're comfortable setting up your email client (Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.), then it's no different than any other host's email. If you want advanced spam filtering or a super polished web interface, then something like Zoho Mail or Google Workspace might be better, but they cost extra.

Exactly, cPanel email is just functional. Good enough for many.

Thanks, that clarifies a lot. I mostly use Outlook anyway.

I used it briefly. It was okay, but I found the webmail interface a bit clunky compared to Gmail. If you're used to Gmail's features and search, it might feel a bit basic. For just sending and receiving, it's functional, but I eventually switched to Google Workspace for the extra bells and whistles.

Yeah, for just email, it's fine. But for docs, drive, etc., Workspace is better.
1
P PoojaR 1 week ago
So it's more like a basic cPanel email, not a full suite?
8
P PoojaR 1 week ago
That's what I was worried about. Gmail's search is too good to give up easily.

I've been using their email hosting for about a year now with my domain. It's been perfectly fine. No major issues with deliverability or receiving emails. It integrates well with my mail client (Thunderbird). For basic professional email, it gets the job done without extra cost if you already have hosting.

N NikhilS 6 days ago
Deliverability is my main concern. Don't want client emails going to spam.

P PoojaR 6 days ago
Good to hear, Deepak. Is the webmail interface decent or do you mostly use a client?

Finally switched my small business site over to Cheaphoster's Shared WordPress plan yesterday. The migration service was actually pretty smooth, which was a relief. Speeds seem decent so far, but I'm curious about long-term reliability. Anyone been with them for a while for a small-ish site?

R Rahul87 4 weeks ago
Hey Priya, I've had my portfolio site on their basic shared plan for about 8 months now. It's just a simple WordPress site, not much traffic. No major issues to report, uptime has been solid for me. For the price, it's hard to beat.

Same here, small blog, almost a year now. Pretty stable.

I tried them for a client's e-commerce site (small one, maybe 50 products) and it struggled a bit. Had to upgrade pretty quickly. For a basic info site or blog, it's probably fine, but anything with dynamic content or regular transactions might need more oomph.
3
P PriyaS 4 weeks ago
That's good to know. Mine is just a local service business, mostly contact forms.
3
A AmitM 3 weeks ago
Yeah, shared hosting always has limits. For e-commerce, I'd look elsewhere too.

I moved my personal blog there a few months back. Speeds are okay, but I did notice a slight dip during peak hours once or twice. Nothing critical for a small site, but just something to keep an eye on if your traffic grows. Support was quick when I had a question about SSL though.
2
P PriyaS 3 weeks ago
Thanks for the heads up on peak hours. My site is mostly static right now.
5
R Rahul87 3 weeks ago
Yeah, their support surprised me actually. Thought it would be slow given the price.

SSL setup was super easy for me too. That free cert is a lifesaver.

Anyone know if CheapHoster does a money-back guarantee? Just in case it's not quite what I need, wanna make sure I can bail if it sucks.

S Sarah Kaur 1 month ago
Yep, they do! I think it's 30 days, something like that. Always good to have that safety net.

They totally do, saw it on their site when I signed up. So you have some time to test it out.

What kind of payment options does CheapHoster have? Just credit card or do they do PayPal or anything else?

R Raj A. 2 months ago
Pretty sure they do credit cards. I paid with Visa last time.

O Omar 2 months ago
Yeah, I used my credit card when I signed up. Don't remember seeing PayPal, but I wasn't really looking for it tbh.

How's CheapHoster compare to Namecheap? I'm just looking for something super basic for a personal blog, not expecting miracles but reliability would be nice.

D Derek Lindqvist 1 month ago
For a super basic blog, CheapHoster is probably fine, especially for the price. Namecheap might have slightly better support or more features but you'll pay more for it.

P Phil Patel 1 month ago
I've used both. CheapHoster is great if you just need something dirt cheap and simple. Namecheap is a step up in terms of performance and features, but also price. For a personal blog, CheapHoster would definitely do the job.

Does anyone know if CheapHoster has any active promo codes for new customers right now? Looking to get the best deal if possible.

M Mia 2 months ago
They don't usually have coupon codes because their base price is already so low. The best 'deal' is usually just going with an annual plan, you save a bit that way.

R Rosa W. 2 months ago
I looked around a while ago and couldn't find any specific codes. Most of their promos are just the upfront low price for the first month or if you pay yearly.

hey, was thinking of trying out cheaphoster for a small project. is that 1 dollar thing for real or is it like, a bait and switch for the first week then it jumps way up?

M Mia S. 1 month ago
Nah, it's pretty legit for the first month. After that, it usually bumps up to like 3 or 4 bucks depending on the plan. Still super cheap though.

F Faith Torres 1 month ago
Yeah it's real for the intro price. Just make sure you check the renewal cost cause that's where they get ya, but it's still competitive.
